Three Cent Nickel
Does a die crack error add value or devalue a rare coin?
I have an 1876 three cent nickel (162,000) i was thinking about selling it but i am not aware of what a die crack does to an old coins value. Is it undesirable on a coin like a scratch, or does it bring in more people that otherwise wouldn’t be interested.

The error you describe is known as a die crack, die break, or cud, based on the severity of the error, and it is caused by a flaw in the die which made the coin then it is reproduced on the coin as a raised imperfection. I would say the value could go up or down depending upon the collector/dealer who buys it. The second link has wholesale values and grading tips for the three cent nickel. I hope that helps.
