State Quarters
What are the golden state quarters worth?
I know they are probably electro plated but I can’t find any information on what they are worth. I have golden quarters of the states: Virginia year 2000, New Jersey 1999, Texas 2004, California 2005, and New Hampshire 2000. I also have another quarter that I cannot find a value for. It is a West Virginia Quarter 2005. It’s not gold but the back part of the quarter says New River Gorge and is in full color. Any information would be very useful. Thank you
The colorized and gold plated state quarters have no coin collector value for most coin collectors consider them damaged coins. They are done by private companies or people out side the mint. They are considered a novelty item. The colored ones sell for around $2 each but less if ordered in quantity such as 5 or 10 and do not have to be the same state. The gold ones sell for actually less around a $1 or so depending on quantity. There is only a few cents worth of gold on the quarter. While the coin collecting community condemns such things, I saw a set of colorized state quarters in a special wood frame made for them and they were quite impressive. They may never be worth much but would make a nice hand me down for a family and who knows in 100 years.
