What Color Scanners Can Do For You
Today life is becoming faster and easier. In the world of today there is a new piece of machinery that is considered must have technology, the color scanner. A scanner is a device that takes documents that are either hand written or printed as well as a variety of images or anything else and converts them to a file format. Generally speaking there are two different types of scanners, color and black and white. Contact Image Sensors or charge coupled devices are used as the image sensors on the majority of scanners. There are often a number of common questions that people tend to ask about scanners such as, “what are color scanners?” Is there an all purpose scanner? How much does a color scanner cost? The Canon CanoScan 8800F Color Scanner is one type of color scanner which is very popular today.
The purpose of a color scanner is to digitize and transmit pictures in color to your computer. If a person is scanning a document that is black and white or gray scale it will not use the color capabilities of the color scanner. There are a variety of different types of scanners such as the photo scanner, the flatbed scanner, handheld scanners, drum scanner, film scanner, portable scanners, sheetfed scanners and many others. A flatbed scanner uses a glass plane. This plane is used to brighten the image that is being scanned. Sheet fed scanners are used to scan documents in a horizontal or vertical manner. Handheld scanners are often used for larger projects. If you are going to scan photographs you will want to use a photo scanner.
In most cases, a drum scanner is used in the distributing industry for capturing detailed pictures. A portable scanner is that which is easily carried anywhere. Resolution and bit depth are special features of color scanners. In color scanners, resolution is measured in dpi (dots per inch). A higher resolution scanner is used for high-resolution printing, and a lower resolution scanner is used for imprisoning images. Generally, color scanners have a resolution of at least 300 x 300 dpi. The image is brighter than others, which are scanned in a color scanner. The irregularity of the picture depends upon the clarity of the light and the quality of the lens.
There are number of key manufacturers of color scanners such as HP, Epson, Relisys and Microtek. The Canon 8800F has both USB and power pilots. The resolution on this color scanner is 4800 by 9600 dpi. The Canon 8800F works on vista/windows. There is also the Canon CanoScan 9000F color scanner. This type of scanner is a laser scanner. There is also the WorldCard Color Scanner ideal for those that are looking to scan business cards or that work in the data management arena. The price may be higher for a color scanner, but the essentialness of the color scanner becomes more and more important every day.
