If you want to start collecting U.S. coins, there are plenty of them available.Even though there are plenty of options, we want to give you some of the most popular.Since these will be considered an investment you have to decide what’s best for you.

A lot of people start collecting the smallest denomination first, which happens to be the $1 gold coin.You can find plenty of options dating back to 1849.Some of your choices will be difficult to find, while others will be much easier.

The $2.50 gold coins offered the United States sesquicentennial coins.Back in 1926 these were minted as part of the 150th founding anniversary.These gold coins were quarter eagle sequicentennials.

If you want to get into pricier pieces then consider the Indian Princess $3 gold coin.It was distributed between 1854 and 1889.Then again; maybe you prefer a $4 gold coin.There were two versions; both were made in 1879 and again in 1880.

Heavy investors start looking at bigger coins like the $5 Half Eagles.One of the best choices is the $5 Indian Head Half Eagle.This 1908 piece would be a great addtion to any collection.

You can also find $10 gold coin denominations.The Indian Head is the design for all these gold coins.

This coin and the Double Eagle from 1907 were both created by Augustus St. Gaudens.We will tell you that these aren’t the easiest ones to find.

You can also get $20 United States gold coins.The Liberty Double Eagle was minted in 1849 and was around until 1907.The Double Eagle gold coins were minted in 1907 and lasted until 1933.

Then of course there is the $50 Panama Pacific gold coin.Back in 1915 these were minted in round and octagonal versions.These are both coins you will find difficult to find.There were only 1,510 round versions minted and 1509 octagonal versions.
