How much is my 1925 indian head buffalo nickel worth?

Unfortunately, the other answer quotes prices from a three year old article, and those prices aren’t valid anymore.

The value is going to depend on the condition, and where it was minted. To find out where it was minted, look for a mintmark on the back below where it says “five cents”. A “D” means it was minted in Denver, an “S” means San Francisco, and no letter means it was made in Philadelphia.

As to the condition, Buffs are notoriously hard to grade, especially for a beginner. If you wanted to sell it to a dealer, figure about $1.50 for a Philadelphia, about $4.50 for a San Francisco, and about $13 for a Denver.

If it’s in good enough condition that you can just make out the entire horn on the buffalo’s head, that’s a grade of “Very Fine”, and you might expect $4 for a Philly, $35 for a San Francisco, and about $40 for a Denver.
